نوائے وقت — معروف ترقی پسند شاعر انسانی حقوق کے علمبردار‘ ارتقاء انسٹیٹیوٹ آف سوشل سائنسز کے صدر ممتا ز صحافی واحد بشیر کو پیر کو بعد نماز گھرگذری روڈ ڈی ایچ اے فیزV قبرستان میں سپردخاک کردیا گیا۔ قبل ازیں ان کی نماز جنازہ مسجد ابوبکر ڈی ایچ اے فیز II میں ادا کی گئی جس میں صحافیوں‘ شعراء اور سماجی شخصیات نے بڑی تعداد میں شرکت کی۔ ان میں معراج محمد خان‘ تاج حیدر‘ مظہر جمیل‘مسلم شمیم‘ ڈاکٹر توصیف احمد خان و دیگر عزیز و اقارب شامل تھے۔ واحد بشیر کاشعری مجموعہ کیکٹس کا پھول شائع ہوا۔ انجمن ترقی پسند مصنفین کے سرگرم رکن تھے جبکہ بزنس ریکارڈر میں صحافی کی حیثیت سے خدمات انجام دیتے ۔۔۔

Urdu writer Iqbal Mateen passed away

Siasat Daily — Noted Urdu short story writer and poet, Mr. Iqbal Mateen passed away at 9 a.m. yesterday at his residence “Happy Homes” in Upparpally. He was born on 2nd February 1929 in Ramkot. He was an associate of Dr. Raj Bahadur Gaur, Mr. Makhdoom Mohiuddin, Dr. Hosaini Shahid, Mr. Syed Mohammed Jawad Rizvi and Mr. Suleman Areeb. His first book “Ujli Parchayian” was published in 1960 which was awarded a prize from A.P. Sahitya Akademy. His other writings were given awards from Urdu Academy, A.P. and Urdu Academy, UP. A.P. Urdu Academy had given him the prestigious “Makhdoom Award”. He was rated among the top most Urdu short story writers but his literary life began with poetry. In Urdu short story writings, Mr. Iqbal Mateen held a unique and distinct position. In his demise, Urdu Literature lost one of its best writers. Peerzada Salman — Come on Sabeen, I was just pulling your leg. Just teasing you. Although I do have genuine reservations about the way he fakes an American accent as House. Still, he is a fantastic actor. I liked him in Black Adder. He was excellent in Stuart Little. And you must have seen him do some great bits on stage with Stephen Fry… what was that… A Bit of Fry and Laurie. Yes, that one. He is right out of the top drawer. But House, sorry, doesn’t cut it for me. I have some idea why you go gaga over him. It’s the eccentric Gregory House, and his idiosyncrasies, and the devil-may-care attitude to life that you love. You know why, because you are quite like that yourself. That’s why. But gosh! Can’t stand that American ۔۔۔

In memorium: Urdu manuscript curator passes away

Express Tribune — Lahore: Qazi Mahmudul Haq, curator of Urdu Manuscripts at the British Library, passed away on April 11 while on a visit to Lahore. He was well known to the community of South Asian scholars and librarians. He said served as curator of Urdu collections, first at the British Museum and then at the British Library, for nearly 50 ۔۔۔

نوائے وقت — اسلام آباد – معروف شاعر ماجد صدیقی گزشتہ رات انتقال کر گئے، انہیں بعد از نماز جمعہ ریس کورس قبرستان میں سپرد خاک کر دیا گیا۔ ماجد صدیقی 20سے زائد کتابوں کے مصنف تھے، اُن کے اردو اور پنجابی شعری مجموعے ادب کے قاری کے لیے اہم سرمایہ ہیں۔ ماجد صدیقی کی رسم قل آج شام چار بجے لین سکس، ویسٹرج میں ان کی رہائش گاہ پر ادا کیا جائے ۔۔۔
