Multan Book Club: A breath of fresh literary air

Saadia Farooq — A few months ago I joined a group of people in a local restaurant of Multan, where, according to the Facebook page of Multan Book Club, the monthly Book Club meeting was expected to be held. Like most college students, I was expecting fun, fiction, love books to be read out. If not, Sidney Sheldon and Jeffrey Archer, popular literature like the Twilight Saga by Stephenie Mayer and Fault in Our Stars by John Green. Well, I was taken off-guard by the dose of classic literature: the meeting covered the most heavy and deep book, To the Lighthouse by Virginia ۔۔۔

جنگ نیوز — اردو کے نامور جاسوسی ناول نگار ابن صفی کی 35ویں برسی اور 87واں یوم پیدائش آج (اتوار کو) منایا جائے گا۔ ابن صفی کا اصل نام اسراراحمد تھا۔ان کی تاریخ پیدائش بھی 26؍ جولائی ہے۔ 1928ء میں ضلع الہ آباد قصبہ نارہ میں پیدا ہوئے۔ان کے جاسوسی ناول ان کی پہچان بنے۔ انہوںنے 300سے زائد ناول تحریر کیے جن میں عمران سیریز اورجاسوسی دنیا کو بے پناہ شہرت حاصل ۔۔۔

UP govt to exhibit “Udru granth” depicting Ram Katha

The culture department of Uttar Pradesh government will host a four-day exhibition featuring Urdu “granth” (religious texts) depicting Ram Kathas – the story of Lord Ram as told in Ramayana — from October 14 to 18 this ۔۔۔

Literary and Cultural activities in Delhi

The Statesman — Delhi is abuzz with extensive and well thought out cultural activities, with a Monsoon Festival of dance at the India International Centre on 16 and 17 July, and an extensive Theatre Festival, and a Story Telling Movement. In a very interesting choice of subject, on 16 July, the Monsoon Festival features Purushaakaram: the Male in Bharatanatyam, in the IIC Auditorium at 6.00 pm. with Praveen Kumar from Bangalore, disciple of Guru Smt Narmada and Prof C V Chandrashekar.
